Project Description
Hill House is the jewel in our development crown. We purchased this well-known beautiful Grade II Listed house, with planning permission for 11 apartments already in place. However, the layout did not sit well with us. Therefore we returned to the local authority with some amendments, to create much better living space for residents. After that, we then embarked on a huge undertaking to convert this run-down building into the luxury apartments they are today. For example, all Listed windows had to be repaired or replaced. In addition, every single joist had to be strengthened, and with over 10,000 square feet of floor area, this was a sizeable feat.
Many construction elements and skilled trades were involved in this project.
- Steel Beams had to be carefully manoeuvred into place
- New drainage was run through the lower ground floor
- There was a full re-wire and re-plumb to each of the 11 apartments
- New utilities had brought in from the main High Street
- Sound and fire proofing installed to current regulation levels
In conclusion, a truly mammoth task, but so very enjoyable.
Above all, the end result speaks for itself. The finished property was featured in the Sunday Times and other national press. Moreover, we received praise from the local community for restoring this wonderful building to its rightful glory.
